The Osmington Parish Community Plan

(9th February '09)

Following the Osmington Society 'Food for Thought' event, and the Osmington Parish Council meeting in November concerning the creation of a Parish Plan, a committee was formed and officers were elected to take forward the creation of such a Community Plan. At its first working meeting on 22nd January '09 it was agreed that the output from the 'Food for Thought' event would provide a useful lead in to the Community Plan process.

A Working Group that derived from the 'Food for Thought' event is already up and running addressing environmental issues, whilst a further Group is investigating the potential for providing allotments for the community. Meanwhile the Community Plan Steering Committee is preparing to carry out a comprehensive survey of community needs and aspirations, which will then be the basis for the creation of the Community Plan.

It is of course realised that the value of that Plan will be heavily dependent on the willing involvement and fulsome contribution by all members of the community, particularly during the survey process. The Community Plan is expected to take between eighteen months and two years to complete, at which point a plan should be in place for the improvement of the quality of life for those in the community, and the quality of the environment in which we live.
